Makeup in Sofia: the questions I get before a first appointment

Everything people ask me in a first message, in one place. If yours is not here, just write to me.

High-shine glam with a smoked black wing, pearlescent highlight along the cheekbone and a soft nude lip.

These are the questions that come up most often in a first message. If yours is not here, just write to me — it is better sorted out before the date than on the day.

Do you come to me?

Yes. I work on location across Sofia — at your home, your hotel, or the venue itself. Send me the address when you book so I can plan the travel time.

How long does it take?

For most looks, plan for 60 to 90 minutes. Bridal takes longer, because it involves more layers and more checking in different light. For a group, the time is planned in advance for everyone together.

Do I need a trial?

Not always, but for a wedding I recommend one. A trial is not about checking whether it will work — it is about finding out what you want to feel when you look in the mirror. It also shows how your skin responds to the products and how the look holds across a day. When it is worth it, and when you can happily skip it, is covered in a separate piece.

How far ahead should I book?

The earlier the better, particularly for a wedding in the busy season — May, June and September. A weekday event usually has more flexibility. The date is confirmed once we have agreed it by email.

What products do you use?

I bring my own professional kit, and brushes and products are cleaned between clients. If you have an allergy or an ingredient that irritates you, tell me beforehand and I will work around it.

Can I use my own foundation?

Yes, if you prefer. Bring it and I will work with it. Sometimes it makes sense — for very sensitive skin where you already know what agrees with you.

Can you do my friends or bridesmaids too?

Yes. Tell me how many of you there are when you book so I can plan the time. A group takes longer than the sum of the individual looks, because of the setup and cleaning between each one.

Do you apply false lashes?

Yes, if you want them — individual clusters or a strip, depending on the look. Tell me if you would rather not have any; plenty of looks work without.

Will it last all day?

On well-prepped skin, professional makeup holds for eight to twelve hours, and for a wedding day I work to twelve to fourteen. What breaks it down, and how to fix it in two minutes, is covered in a separate piece.

What should I wear while you work?

A shirt, or anything that buttons. There is no way to pull a t-shirt over your head after hair and makeup and not regret it.

Do you work on shoots and campaigns?

Yes. Editorial is one of the four directions I work in, and I am open to collaborating with photographers and brands.

How do I book?

Through the booking form on the site, or by email directly. Leave the date, the occasion, a rough time and the location, and I will get back to you to confirm.

Anything else?

If your question is about a particular look, have a look at the four directions or the full portfolio — it is almost always easier to show me a photograph than to describe it.

And if you already know what you want, book a date.
